Cognitive rejection occurs when a phenomenon or principle is “sensed,” e.g. seen, heard or felt but cannot be integrated into the dominant paradigm or definition of reality. This inability to expand the definition of reality inhibits the growth of a paradigm and or prevents a paradigm shift. The emotions, beliefs, attitudes and values become habituated and growth in consciousness is constrained.
Even though humanity has over time heard the profound teachings of mystics and even its own still small voice whispering the wisdom of the ages, it has failed to choose the sustainable narrative of Simple Reality. These principles of how and why it would be better to live in the present moment do not fit into the prevailing human story and are therefore ignored or suffer cognitive rejection.
