All of our physical and mental “illness” originates in our worldview, in our confusion about the nature of Reality (Oneness) itself. In his book I Contain Multitudes, Ed Yong reveals a misunderstanding related to our reductionist view of disease. “These bacteria are so plentiful and so essential to our well-being that in Yong’s vision there is really no such thing as bacteria and human, no “us” and “them:” We are all an indivisible unit.”[i]
According to William Blake, “Illness expresses what is going on in the world and in the soul.”[ii] We would do well to shift to a worldview of Oneness wherein “diseases” would be profoundly redefined.
