#109 Resurrection

“It is the recognition of the gift of God.”

The New Testament Easter story claims that Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected in three days. For Christians the resurrection later became a symbol of a new beginning, a transformation—we were dead (sinful) but God “made us alive.”

Ephesians 2:1-5 (NIV) says: “You were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world. … All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. … But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive … even when we were dead in transgressions.”

In Simple Reality, our false-self in Paradigm-B is unconscious or “asleep” to the Truth of our perfection. But then we “wake up” to the Truth of Paradigm-A and accept our Essence, the Perfect Creation and Creator, and a Oneness worldview. It is like saying “once I was dead but now I am alive.”

Insight # 109 comes to us from A Course in Miracles, a unique spiritual self-study program. Author Helen Schucman (1909-1981) claims the entire Course was dictated to her by an “inner voice” which identified itself to her as Jesus of Nazareth.

“Very simply, the resurrection is … a reawakening or a rebirth; a change of mind about the meaning of the world. It is the acceptance of the Holy Spirit’s interpretation of the world’s purpose; the acceptance of the Atonement for oneself. It is the end of dreams of misery, and the glad awareness of the Holy Spirit’s [True Self] final dream. It is the recognition of the gift of God.”[i]
