Two stories provide a context for the human community – Paradigm B and Paradigm A. They are dissimilar in almost every respect. By comparing these two stories – one sustainable, one unsustainable – we can encourage humanity to choose the healthier alternative.
Paradigm B, the dominant world view, involves repressing the reality of our ongoing self-destructive behavior. In contrast, Paradigm A is characterized by the experience of compassion, truth, beauty, joy, happiness, freedom and peace of mind.
So far humanity has not chosen wisely. We spend too much of our energy lying, denying and attempting to conceal the horrible secret that causes so much human suffering. The following comparison might help give us the energy, commitment, intention and determination to seek the better experience:
Criteria | Paradigm B | Paradigm A |
Form Genre Philosophy (Metaphysics) Source of Energy Theme Affect Experience |
Fiction Fantasy, Horror, Surrealism Illusion Fear Competition Emotional Reaction Suffering |
Non-Fiction Reality Truth/Beauty Compassion Cooperation Peaceful Response Joy |
